International Electronics Elite Forum and Run 2019 (IEEFR 2019) is an international event that related to electronics manufacturing industries and the organizers would like to invite industry experts from the region as well as international as honorary speakers to the forum, providing invaluable support and advice about the electronics manufacturing industries development and direction for the region especially Penang (Silicon Valley of Southeast Asia) and China.

 

This is a 3 days event which including the forum session, official visit of electronics manufacturing plant and Batu Kawan Industries Park in Penang and finally there will be the running event on the final day of the event.

 

The event also promotes healthy lifestyle and invite more electronics industries professional to enjoy the scenic running course of Penang Bayan Lepas Industrial coast running path with 2 Penang Bridge’s in the view.

 

Facilitate rapid industry integration. Develop Penang into a key hub for international electronics manufacturers and an e-procurement corridor.

 

With an objective to speed up the development of Penang to become a key hub for global electronics manufacturers and international e-procurement services, Penang will host the inaugural International Electronics Elite Forum (IEEF), International Electronics Elite Run (IEER) and other activities from 16-18 August 2019.

 

The series of activities is co-organized by Shenzhen Terminal Electronics Manufacturing Association (TEMA) from China, IEEFR Sdn. Bhd., Actife Style Concept Sdn. Bhd., and investPenang. The Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang - Mr. Lu Shiwei, and approximately 300 other guests will attend the forum, and over 1,500 elites from the electronics industry from all over the world will participate in the running event.

The event organizing committee has extended invitations to almost 200 local Penang and surrounding electronics corporations to participate in the forum and its series of activities. Similarly, almost 100 Chinese electronics manufacturers and Chinese electronic equipment manufacturing companies, including ZTE Corporation and others, have confirmed participation. In addition, the organizing committee is also inviting experts from various electronics manufacturing fields in Japan, Korea, Germany, United States of America and others to participate.

Penang has long been recognized as an important hub for international electronics manufacturing. Over the past 50 years, Penang has evolved into one of the five largest electronics and semiconductor manufacturing hubs in the world. Numerous large electronics manufacturers from Europe, America and Japan have set up their Asian headquarters here. It was reported that there are over 330 large electronics corporations from Europe, America and Japan in Penang, and another 460+ surrounding Penang. Half of these corporations are large corporations are involved in manufacturing electronics and semiconductors. The value of Penang’s electronics manufacturing outputs stands at almost US$180 billion.

 

Mirroring Penang’s electronics industry prowess in China is Shenzhen city, an important hub for electronics manufacturing in China. Most of China’s international electronics industry players have their headquarters set up in Shenzhen. Shenzhen is a city with the most complete world-class electronics industrial supply chain, consists of wide-ranging services from product design, research and development (R&D), to electronic materials, components, devices manufacturing facilities, semiconductor packaging and testing facilities, electronics assembly facilities, and product packaging, product application etc. Every segment of the electronics industrial chain has come together in Shenzhen and has achieved economies of scale. Manufacturing corporations could easily procure materials, equipment and services needed in their operations from within and around Shenzhen. All deliveries to the manufacturing plants can be made within half-an-hour. The comprehensive support by an entire supply chain for electronics has made Shenzhen a successful international electronics R&D and innovation center. Currently, large international electronics corporations have established R&D facilities in Shenzhen. Together with Penang’s strong electronics manufacturing industry, both cities will consolidate. Linking Shenzhen’s complete electronics manufacturing industrial chain to Penang is one of the main objectives of this event. Aligning with Malaysia and Penang’s thrust in electronics industry development, China continues to reform and reach out to any opportunity to collaborate along the national “belt and road” initiative. We can expect that China and the world’s electronics technology, manufacturing and various fields will become more integrated. Many corporations will cross border to join the larger global electronics hotspots to ride the tide of progress.

The upcoming International Electronics Elite series of activities is intended to showcase the important role that Malaysia and Penang play in the development of global electronics industry, and allow China and other nations an opportunity to understand Penang and Malaysia’s current electronics manufacturing scale, capabilities, technology and needs. This will facilitate collaboration and integration of the Malaysian electronics industry with that of various nations, including China.

 

In addition to the international forum, the organizing committee is joining forces with Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) in conjunction of 30 Years PSDC Anniversary to present to host the inaugural International Electronics Elite Run. The running activity aims to facilitate mutual understanding and to build trust, unity as well as shared progress among Malaysians/Penangites and the world’s electronics elites. 7 categories are available in the run to cater for the diverse needs of participants.

 

Other activities of the 3-day event also include a large-scale cocktail reception, a tour of Penang Industrial Zones, visits to key enterprises and international electronics corporations, and opening ceremonies of Chinese corporations in Penang.
