Participants’ Guide
1. Collection of T-shirts, goodies and wristband
- The collection of event T-shirts, goodies, and wristband will be held on
- Please bring your registration receipt as proof of registration - a printout or soft copy on your phone is also acceptable.
- Collection is strictly prohibited on the day of the event (this event), you may collect for your friend or ask your friend to collect on your behalf by handing him/her your registration receipt.
- Please bring your own recycling bag for group collection. Eco-friendly!
- Size changes are not allowed during the collection day. The organiser will do our best to meet the t-shirt size filled in by the participant on the registration form. However, if there are any discrepancies beyond the organizers’ control, there is no guarantee that the "correct" size will be provided to the runner.
- Wearing an official event t-shirt is strongly recommended.
- Remember to write your emergency contact person and number on the wristband, and bring it with you on the day of the event to exchange for your medal after the run.
2. Refunds
- Once full payment has been received, no refunds will be given.
- Confirmed registrations are not transferable to another person.
3. Starting Point
- The starting point will be at Lebuh Pantai, Penang
- All participants must arrive at the starting line at 6:30 am and the flag-off will be at 7:00 am.
4. Route
- Please refer to the route online.
- Please follow the directions given by officials along the route at all times.
- Due to traffic conditions, there will be a time limit for all participants. A sweeper vehicle may be utilized to pick up all remaining runners who the organisers feel may not complete the event within the stipulated time.
- If any participant does not wish to enter the sweeper vehicle when instructed, then he/she is deemed to be no longer a part of the event and his/her safety will not be the responsibility of the organisers. They will not be qualified for your medal and eCertificate.
5. Finishing Point
- The finishing point will also be at Lebuh Pantai, Penang
- Upon completion, participants need to show their wristbands and exchange them for their medals at the corresponding counter.
- Only those who complete the race within the specified time can receive the finisher medal.
- The finisher medal must be collected on the day of the race. If you fail to collect it on the day, it will be deemed as a forfeit.
- Please do not gather/crowd in the finishing area and proceed to the refreshment/rest area as soon as possible after receiving your medal.
6. Time Limit
- The time limit is 1.5 hours.
7. Withdrawal
- Any participant who wishes to withdraw during the event must surrender your wristband to any official along the route.
8. Medical Advice
- As a precaution, all participants are advised to undergo a medical check-up one month prior to the date of the event.
- Medical assistance where possible, organisers shall attempt to have medical teams patrol along the route. However, participants are requested to take care of your own safety before, during and after the event.
- If a participant requires medical assistance, please seek help from the nearest official.
9. Safety
- Participants must run on the road except when directed by officials or police.
- Unauthorized vehicles are not allowed to accompany participants.
- Pets, bicycles, inline skates, strollers, carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers, and any other wheeled objects are not allowed on the course, except for official race and medical vehicles.
10. Others
- This event is open only to all Malaysians, permanent residents and overseas runners aged 13 and above.
- This is only a guide, and organisers and sponsors are not responsible for any injuries, losses, damages, death and other undesirable occurrences before, during and after the event.
- The organisers reserve the right to amend and/or make changes to the event rules, terms and conditions, running route(s) and/or other arrangements as they deem fit/appropriate, to cancel, to postpone or reschedule the event date to a later date for the safety of the participants and/or to prevent any potential hazards in the running of the race, at any time without prior notice to the participant. In such cases, every effort will be made to inform the participant prior to the date of the race. The organiser shall not be held liable for any loss or inconvenience caused due to such changes.
- All participants, crew and staff must display courtesy, good taste, decorum, and sportsmanship at all times. Nudity is specifically not allowed.
- All decisions by organisers are final, and no disputes shall be entertained.
I agree to participate in 2025 Kwong Wah City Run - Celebrating Kwong Wah Yit Poh’s 115th Anniversary, on the following:
- By participating in this event, I accept all risks inherent in participating in this event, which may result in loss of life, temporary or permanent injury. Therefore, I release all persons associated with the conduct of this event and will release them from all liability for all issues arising from participating in the event. For clarification, the persons released from liability include the event organisers, co-organisers, promoters, sponsors, managers, officials, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers, including event medical and paramedical personnel and every personnel invited and required by the organisers to participate in the event. This release of liability and indemnity will last forever and bind my heirs, executors, personal representatives and assignees.
- I understand that I park my vehicle at my own risk and that the organisers, co-organisers and sponsors accept no liability for loss or damage.
- I acknowledge that the event carries a risk of serious injury or death, which may arise from a variety of causes including overexertion, equipment failure, dehydration, accidents with other participants, spectators and road users, the course and weather conditions, etc..
- I understand that I should not participate in this event unless I am fully prepared and my medical and physical condition has been confirmed by a doctor or medical practitioner.
- I agree to abide by all rules of the organisers, which in part deal with safe and fair sports practices.
- I understand that the information I provide here will be included in the Actife Style, Kwong Wah Yit Poh Press and sponsors database. I also understand that information of a biological nature including my name, date of birth, hometown, contact, results (if any), career highlights and interest may be released to the media upon general request.
- I grant the organisers, co-organisers and sponsors the unconditional right to use the photographic images and personal information in any form of media, art, advertising, trade, visual documentary, promotional material, promotional campaign, merchandise or film coverage or any kind at their sole discretion without compensation to me. I also waive any right to inspect and/or approve the finished product or copies that may be made of it, or the use to which it may be applied.
- I have obtained permission from my family and the relevant sports association to participate in this competition.
- I am of the required age on the day of my participation in the age group competition.
