PENANG INTERNATIONAL 12 HOURS WALK 2014

The event is held under the specific Rules of the Penang International Penang Masters Athletic Association and therein shall be referred to as the “Walk Event.”

  • This walk is open to all Malaysians and Foreigners above the age of 16 years old on the date of the competition.

* Age as at 3-May-2014
* Prizes : Category A, B, C, D, E, F, G must complete minimum 50km and Category H, J, K, L, M, N, P must complete minimum 40km to entitle prizes.
* Participant must complete minimum 10km in 12 hours to entitle certificate and finisher medal.

Rules & Regulations

Electronic Timing Chips

  • All lap timing will be determined by the timing chips and at no time during the race must you detach the chips from its place.

Prizes

  • Men must complete minimum 50KM and Women 40KM

Determination of Winners / Certificate / Medal

  1. All Competitors must START at the START Line at 8.00pm on 3rd. May 2014. Failing to start the competition the competitor is considered disqualified from the competition.
  2. For the purpose of the determination of the winners, the Walk Event shall end at the Finish Line on the course.
  3. Subject to any penalty or disqualification by the Judges, the competitor who has covered the longest distance shall be declared the winner.
  4. The Walk Event shall be deemed to have been concluded at the end of the 12 Hours after it has commenced.
  5. A Competitor who has successfully covered a distance of 10 Km or more will be awarded a Certificate of Participation and a Participating Medal.
  6. Any Competitor who wishes to rest more than 2 hours must report to the Technical Officials at the designated location only.
  7. Any Competitor who is found running along the course will be deemed to have infringed the Rules of the Competition and shall be penalized by having his laps be deducted from the total distance covered by the competitor concerned. Therefore, one infringement will mean a deduction of a lap and subsequent infringements will mean a loss of one lap for each infringement.
  8. A Competitor who commits a serious infringement will be shown a red card and will be disqualified from continuing the race.
  9. The decision of the Organising Committee is final and no appeal or correspondence will be entertained.

Solving a Tie

  • In the event of more than one Competitor being adjudged to have finished the race with the same distance the following rules shall apply.
  • A count-back with the competitor covering the most number of laps of the circuit during the last 9 hours of the race be declared the winner,
  • If a tie still exists the Competitor who covers the  most number of laps in the last 6 hours or the last hour as the situation warrants shall be the winner.
  • However, if a tie still remains after the count-back system as above, the competitor returning the best time (lowest time) in the most number of laps in the last 3 hours shall be adjudged the winner.

Collection of Numbers/T-shirts/ Timing Chips

  • Competitors must collect the above at the Race Secretariat i.e. the Penang Town Hall on Saturday 3rd. May 2014 from 1pm to 6.00pm.

Reporting Time

  • Final Briefing at 7pm on 3rd. May 2014  for all Participants.
  • Report for briefing at the Start Line complete with competition numbers and your timing chips.
  • Failure to report for the Start at 8.00pm on Saturday 3rd. May or reporting without the numbers or the timing chips will be disqualified.

Leaving the Competition Venue/ Area

  • Strictly no Competitor is allowed to leave the Competition Venue during the course of the race unless he or she has officially ended the race.
  • At all times a competitor must remain within the venue of the Competition.
  • Competitors may leave the competition arena only at the rest area or the pause zone as designated and shall be allowed to continue the race.
  • Failure to comply the above may be disqualified.

Numbers

  • Competitors must wear numbers only provided by the Organising Committee and it should be clearly pinned on the chest and back and no tampering is allowed.
  • Strictly no transferring or exchanging of numbers are allowed.
  • Flouting the Rule above will amount to disqualification.
